What is an implant abutment and an implant-supported prosthesis?
Implant-supported prostheses are fixed or removable replacements that are placed on or supported by implants positioned within the jawbone. Patients without teeth but with sufficient bone are suitable candidates for an implant-supported prosthesis application.
How many dental implants are required for a fixed implant-supported prosthesis in edentulous patients?
For a fixed prosthesis in patients without teeth, it is necessary to place 4 to 6 implants in the lower jaw and 6 to 8 implants in the upper jaw, depending on the size of the jaw and the procedure to be performed.

How many dental implants are required for a removable implant-supported prosthesis in edentulous patients?
At least two implants in the lower jaw and 4 implants in the upper jaw are required to create a successful implant-supported removable prosthesis.
How is implant treatment performed in patients without teeth?
Bone health, width, length, and distance from other anatomical structures (veins, nerves, and sinuses) are very important for implant treatments in edentulous cases. Bone status is evaluated through radiological examinations such as panoramic X-rays, tomography, and RVG.
How many implants are needed for patients without teeth?
Depending on the bone evaluation, a decision is made whether the prosthesis to be placed on the implant will be removable or fixed. The method with the fewest implants in fixed systems is the ALL-ON-4 system. In this method, a complete fixed prosthesis is placed on a minimum of 4 implants. The prosthesis is specially designed and manufactured, then placed on the supports. It is also possible to place fixed porcelain teeth on 6 or 8 implants.
How do I care for an implant abutment?
Implant abutments are placed on implants and must be brushed twice a day with a special denture brush. It is not advisable to clean the prosthesis with toothpaste. Alternatively, liquid soap can be used. Afterwards, they must be rinsed thoroughly and stored in a dry place.
Over time, the elastic components of the prosthesis may wear out, but they can be replaced. Replacement is very simple and takes only 10 minutes, after which the support is as good as new.
