Healthy, white teeth are essential for a beautiful smile. Everyone’s teeth have a natural shade, but over time they can darken due to internal and external factors such as tea, coffee, smoking, and antibiotic use. Special gels used in teeth whitening (bleaching) can lighten the shade of your teeth by up to 4-5 tones.
Whitening treatment for individual teeth
The intra-coronal whitening method is used for teeth that have previously undergone root canal treatment or have experienced pulpal bleeding due to trauma, leading to discoloration. The whitening gel is placed inside the tooth and left for 4-5 days. Afterward, the tooth is checked to see if it matches the color of the surrounding teeth. If it does, the treatment is complete.

Does teeth whitening damage the teeth?
Teeth whitening performed under the supervision of a dentist does not damage the teeth. The gels used are tissue-compatible. You can safely undergo teeth whitening under professional dental supervision.
How long does teeth whitening last?
This depends on the patient’s consumption habits (colored drinks, tea, coffee, etc.) and whether or not they smoke. The brightness achieved after whitening treatments fades over time, typically lasting between 1 and 2 years. If you undergo a maintenance whitening treatment every 6 months, the results will last longer.
What should be considered after teeth whitening treatment?
To maximize the longevity of the whitening results, it is recommended to avoid colored beverages for at least 1 week. Black tea should be consumed as weak as possible, and dark drinks such as coffee, cherry juice, red wine, pomegranate juice, and turnip juice should be avoided entirely. If you smoke, you should minimize it.
Will there be sensitivity or tingling after teeth whitening?
There may be mild sensitivity for the first 12 hours. Your dentist will prescribe a desensitizing gel, and you may also use a desensitizing toothpaste. Patients with a low pain threshold who experience significant sensitivity can take pain relievers on the first day. The sensitivity will subside after 12 hours.
