What is teeth whitening?
Healthy, white teeth are essential for a beautiful smile. Everyone’s teeth have a natural shade. Over time, they can become darker due to internal and external factors such as tea, coffee, smoking, and the use of antibiotics. Special gels used in teeth whitening (bleaching) can lighten the color of the teeth by up to 4-5 shades. You can achieve professional teeth cleaning within 1 hour with laser treatment at our clinic, or you can use a specially prepared whitening kit at home.
How does Laser Teeth Whitening work?
The laser teeth whitening technique involves applying a hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) based gel to the surface of the teeth. When activated by the laser, this gel releases free radicals that penetrate the tooth enamel and reach the pigmented molecules responsible for stains or yellowing. These molecules are broken down through redox reactions; as a result, the teeth appear whiter and brighter.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved three types of laser lamps used for teeth whitening:
- Diode Laser – BIOLASE: The most widely used laser for dental whitening. It effectively whitens stained or yellowed teeth and allows for better penetration of the whitening substance into the dental tissues.

Questions & Answers
Does teeth whitening damage the teeth?
Teeth whitening performed under the supervision of a dentist does not damage the teeth. The gels used are tissue-compatible. You can safely undergo teeth whitening under professional dental supervision.
How long does teeth whitening last?
This depends on the patient’s consumption habits (colored drinks, tea, coffee, etc.) and whether they smoke. The white shade achieved after whitening treatments fades over time, typically lasting between 1 and 2 years. If you undergo a maintenance whitening treatment every 6 months, the whiteness will last longer.
What should be considered after teeth whitening treatment?
To increase the longevity of the whitening results, it is recommended to avoid colored drinks for at least 1 week. Black tea should be consumed as weak as possible, and dark beverages such as coffee, cherry juice, red wine, pomegranate juice, and turnip juice should be completely avoided. If you smoke, you should minimize it.
Will there be sensitivity or tingling in the teeth after whitening?
There may be some light sensitivity for the first 12 hours. Your doctor will prescribe a desensitizing gel. You may also prefer to use a desensitizing toothpaste. If patients with a low pain threshold experience significant sensitivity, they can use painkillers on the first day. The sensitivity will fade after 12 hours.
