What are porcelain laminate veneers - leaf porcelain laminates?

It is a leaf porcelain treatment that does not damage the teeth and is applied to permanently change the shape, size, and color of the teeth. Patients can achieve a white, smooth, and natural smile in a very short time with little to no abrasion (1-2 mm) of the natural teeth.

How many sessions does the laminate veneer treatment require?

If you are not receiving any treatment for your gums, the procedure can be completed in 2-3 sessions within one week. First, the surfaces of the teeth to be treated with porcelain laminate are prepared, and the dental measurements are sent to the laboratory. The prepared laminates are tested on the patient during the second session. Once approved by the patient, they are bonded to the front teeth. You will receive a brand-new smile within just one week.

Questions & Answers

How long do porcelain laminate veneers – leaf porcelain teeth last?

Porcelain laminates can last for many years if good oral hygiene is maintained. Thanks to new technologies and the CAD-CAM system, leaf porcelain can be produced with a thickness of only 0.3 mm, offering maximum light transmittance and strength. This also maximizes the aesthetic appearance. They are highly resistant to discoloration and breakage. To prolong their lifespan, it is necessary to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid very hard foods, and stop habits such as teeth grinding and nail-biting.

What is the difference between porcelain laminate (leaf porcelain) and porcelain veneers?

Porcelain laminates are porcelain veneers with a thickness of 0.2–0.5 mm, which is much thinner than standard porcelain veneers. They are applied with a special adhesive directly onto the outer surface of the teeth, with little to no preparation. For porcelain veneers, the tooth surface must be reduced by approximately 2 mm, after which measurements are taken. Porcelain veneers cover the entire surface of the tooth. However, porcelain laminates only cover the front surface of the tooth.

Which cases are suitable for porcelain laminate veneers – leaf porcelain teeth?

Porcelain laminates (leaf porcelain) are a good option in cases where tooth length is shortened or enamel is worn down. Cracked or broken enamel can be covered by leaf porcelain, and because of its high-quality light transmission, they will look like natural teeth. In cases of tetracycline staining—in other words, antibiotic stains—teeth whitening is unfortunately not possible. In these cases, porcelain laminate veneers or leaf porcelain can be used to cover these stains. Whitened teeth may need to be cleaned again over time due to tea, coffee, and smoking stains. Patients who desire permanent whiteness may prefer leaf porcelain laminates. Patients with misaligned teeth, those who do not wish to undergo orthodontic treatment, or those who do not have time for braces may prefer porcelain laminates to achieve a beautiful, white smile. Leaf porcelain is also frequently used to close gaps between teeth and treat spaced teeth.

How long do porcelain laminate veneers last?

Laminates can be used for many years with good dental care. This is because they are made of porcelain and have superior bonding properties compared to other systems. They are highly resistant to staining and abrasion. Proper dental care is necessary to extend their lifespan. Habits such as eating very hard foods or nail-biting should also be avoided.
