Telescopic Dentures
Telescopic dentures are a dental solution recommended for both minor and major tooth loss. Depending on the materials chosen, this form of prosthesis can provide both a purely practical solution and a deceptively natural appearance.
What are telescopic dentures?
Telescopic dentures are dental prosthetics that adapt to both smaller and larger sections of the dentition, up to an entire half of the jaw. The prerequisite for this type of prosthesis is the presence of a number of teeth that can serve as abutments. In addition to these, all teeth that will subsequently be replaced by the telescopic denture are prepared and crowned, thus providing future support for the prosthesis in the jaw. This system relies on friction and negative pressure and, depending on the size and individually adapted to the requirements, can be further supplemented by small visible clasps. Their name refers precisely to this principle. Just as with a telescope, two elements are inserted into one another: the primary crowns (the crowned teeth in the jaw) and their counterparts located in the denture, the secondary crowns. The telescopic denture can therefore be flexibly inserted or removed at any time and is easy to clean.

Materials used
Telescopic dentures are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth. The gum section is made of polymethyl methacrylate, naturally tinted with both inorganic and organic agents. Typically, a ceramic shell is placed over steel cores embedded in the material to mimic the tooth. Alternatively, a plastic shell is used. Although this is less hard in comparison, the material vibrates less audibly when chewing or speaking. Conversely, ceramic is characterized by its durability and color stability. Regardless of the material chosen, a telescopic denture will last for several decades if good oral hygiene is maintained. It can also be extended and readjusted in the event of further tooth loss. It is important to us that your wishes and ideas are always taken into account, so that the materials used represent the best choice for you in terms of cost, benefits, and aesthetics, ensuring your naturally beautiful smile is preserved.
The treatment
The jaw and the prosthesis are adapted to each other over several sessions and with multiple impressions. First, the abutments are defined and the primary crowns are prepared, then step by step the prosthesis is optimized for appearance and comfort. Gradually, you have a detailed influence not only on the aforementioned materials and the exact color matching of the prosthesis, but also on the shape of the prosthesis that makes up your new smile. For example, the line of the incisors could be straightened or realigned. Throughout this process, up until the final check-up appointment, you will be able to get used to the use, cleaning, removal, and insertion with our assistance, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
